The year is 1962 and NASA is attempting to achieve the monumental feat of sending a man to the moon. Meanwhile, in a remote corner of Siberia, a Soviet cosmonaut is embarking on a daring mission in the opposite direction. Comrade Ivan Ivanovich finds himself descending into an extinct volcano in his exploration capsule, known as Little Orpheus, with the intent of uncovering the mysteries at the center of the Earth. However, upon his descent, Ivan mysteriously disappears.

Three years later, Ivan resurfaces, claiming to have not only saved the world but also misplaced the atomic bomb that powers the Little Orpheus. He is swiftly taken to a highly classified bunker deep beneath the Ural Mountains to be interrogated by the formidable General Yurkovoi. Even Stalin himself wouldn't dare challenge this fearsome figure. With unyielding resolve, the General confronts Ivan: "So... where have you been, comrade? And where is my bomb?" In response, Ivan meets his gaze head-on and begins recounting his extraordinary journey.
